肩の張った堂々とした形の壺で、底は平らにできており、口は片口になっています。
元々は水などを入れるための容器であったと思われるが、肩のあたり鐶をつけることで茶室で使用する花生として転用したものと考えられます。
荒々しい小石混じりの土を使用し、備前焼は釉薬を掛けずに焼成をしておりますが、焼成時に松割木の灰がかかり、それにより肩に黄色く発色しております。
このような模様はその姿から胡麻（ごま）と呼ばれ備前焼の特徴とされております。

It is an imposing jar with broad shoulders, a flat bottom and a one-sided mouth.
It is thought to have originally been a container for holding water, but the addition of a metal ring around the shoulder suggests it has been repurposed as a flower vase for use in a tea room.
Bizen ware is made from clay mixed with rough pebbles and is fired without glaze, but pine ash gets on it during firing, causing a yellow color on the shoulders.
This type of pattern is called sesame because of its appearance, and is considered a characteristic of Bizen ware.
