平な底に低い胴、大きく開いた口、そして腰から３つの足がつきます。
胴の形はまっすぐ落ちるわけではなく、そこに向かって少し窄まります。
足もまっすぐではなく、やや内側に入ってから下部に向かって外に広がります。
全体にかかる釉薬は灰青色と言われる宋代の青磁色で、汝窯の特徴として乳白がかっております。
釉面には細かな貫入が入り、見込みは釉薬が波打つ涙痕が現れています。
釉薬は底まで全体に掛けられ、底部には米粒よりも小さな5点の支釘跡残されるのも汝窯の特徴です。
汝窯の多くは宮廷や儀式で使われるもので華やかな形も多いですが、この筆洗はとてもシンプルな形で実用として作られた品です。
汝窯を実用で使えるほどの位の高い方が所持したものと考えられます。

It has a flat base, a low body, a wide open mouth, and three legs extending from the waist.
The body does not drop straight down, but rather narrows slightly towards the bottom.
The legs are also not straight, but tilt slightly inward and widen outwards towards the bottom.
The glaze that covers the entire piece is the gray-blue color of Song Dynasty celadon, with a milky white hue that is characteristic of Ru ware.
The glaze surface has fine crazing, and the inner bottom is uneven like waves.
The glaze is applied all the way to the bottom, and another characteristic of Ru ware is that there are five nail marks on the bottom that are smaller than a grain of rice.
Many Ru kiln pieces are used at the imperial court and for ceremonies, and many are ornate in shape, but this Basin is a very simple shape and was made for practical use.
It is thought to have been owned by someone of high rank who was able to use a Ru ware for practical purposes.
