「たいひてんもく べっこうさん」と読みます。
宋代の吉州窯で作られた茶碗であり、黒釉の上にもう一度釉薬で模様を書いています。
その模様が鼈甲（べっこう）ににていることから鼈甲盞や鼈盞、玳瑁盞とも呼びます。
中国では玳玻盞とも呼ばれています。
玳玻天目と美術館などで保管されているものの多くが、鸞や梅の模様を書いているものが一般的、このように見込みも鼈甲模様のものを見ることは意外と見ることができません。
また、鼈甲盞は茶色の模様が多く、この茶碗ではように青色も混ざっている模様はとても珍しいです。
大きさは建窯などの天目茶碗と比べるとやや小ぶりであり、高台は玳玻天目の特徴である低く薄いものとなっています。
