白薩摩御庭焼花瓶 – SATSUMA Flower Bottle

薩摩焼は400年前に薩摩藩主の島津義弘（しまづよしひろ）が朝鮮より連れ帰った陶工の手で歴史が始まります。
御庭焼（おにわやき）とは藩が自らの庭に築いた窯で焼いた陶磁器のことで、当品は1853年頃に島津斉彬（しまづなりあきら）が磯別邸内に築いた斉彬御庭焼と考えられます。
薩摩焼は白薩摩と黒薩摩に大きく大別されます。
黒薩摩は実用品として人々の暮らしの道具でしたが、本品のような白い薩摩焼は献上品として扱われ「献上薩摩」とも呼ばれます。
幕末から明治初期にかけてパリ万博をはじめとする、海外の万博博覧会に出品がされました。
江戸時代の大名から西洋人に観賞用としてとても愛され、白い生地に豪華で緻密な金彩模様（金襴手）は圧巻です。
海外では「SATSUMA」と呼ばれ、やがて欧米の市場で大変人気になり、海外貿易品として藩の重要な産業となります。

白薩摩は希少性の高い温かみのある象牙色の白い生地に、透明釉が掛けられ、その表面にはとても細かな貫入（ひび）が輝き、奥深さを与えます。

首、胴、裾に純金を用いた金彩と赤、青、緑の絵の具を用いて、とても緻密に模様が描かれます。
金彩の太さは1mm以下で細いところでは0.2mm程度になります。
胴には片面で４０輪ほどの菊花文がとても細かく描かれ、枝を金彩で描きます。
それぞれの菊は緻密に絵描き方が変えられており、金彩で縁取りをし塗りつぶしたもの、花びらの最外端は白を残し濃淡をつけたもの、金縁をせずに細い線で描いたものと、大小や色の組み合わせることで奥行きがつけれれております。
驚愕するほど緻密であり、絵の具の線で描いたものは0.1mm程度と精細で、全ての菊の花弁は金彩で小さな点を打ち描かれています。
各面でも花の配置や装飾が違い、一面は金彩で竹を三角の格子状に編み雲文と組み合わせ、もう一面は菱形模様と雲紋を組み合わせております。
それぞれの下部端につけられた青の雲文は絵の具の濃淡により奥行きが付けられます。

首と裾は緑と青の草文と金彩の唐草文がつけられ、赤の絵の具で大胆に帯状に塗りつぶされます。
上下境界線をつけることで引き締まった印象が与えられ、胴の模様に注目されるようになっております。

花器としてつくられたものでございますが、存在感は凄まじく、花を生けなくとも絵になる品です。

The history of Satsuma ware began 400 years ago with the potter brought back from Korea by Yoshihiro Shimazu, the lord of the Satsuma domain.
White Satsuma ware like this item is treated as a gift to the Emperor.
From the end of the Edo period to the beginning of the Meiji era, it was exhibited at international expositions such as the Paris Expo.
The gorgeous and detailed gold pattern on the white fabric is a masterpiece.
Eventually, it became very popular in the European and American markets, and it was called “SATSUMA” and became an important industry as a foreign trade product.

A transparent glaze is applied to the warm ivory-colored soil, and very fine glazed-cracks shine on the surface, giving depth.

The neck, torso, and hem are painted in very fine patterns using pure gold and red, blue, and green paints.
The line weight of the gold color is 1 mm or less, and it is about 0.2 mm at the thinnest part.
On one side of the body, about 40 chrysanthemum flowers are painted very finely, and the branches are painted in gold.
Each chrysanthemum has been carefully painted, and the depth is added by combining sizes and colors.
The lines of paint are fine, about 0.1 mm, and all the chrysanthemum petals are painted with small dots in gold.
One side is gold-colored and bamboo is woven into a triangular lattice and combined with cloud patterns, and the other side is a combination of rhombic patterns and cloud patterns.
The blue cloud pattern has more depth than the gradation of the paint.

The neck and hem are decorated with green and blue grass patterns and gold arabesque patterns, and are boldly painted over with red paint in strips.

The presence is tremendous, and it is a picture-perfect item even if you don’t arrange flowers.
