呉祥瑞香合 – Blue and White Covered Box

祥瑞（しょんずい・しょうずい）とは中国の明代末ころに日本より注文され景徳鎮の民窯でつくられた染付の磁器です。
内側に記載された「五良大甫呉祥瑞造」の銘から祥瑞と称されます。
最上手の呉須を使用し、小さな器面を余すことなく、色濃く模様が描かれます。
側面の4面にはそれぞれ、組子、組亀甲、渦巻き、網模様が描かれます。
模様の線はしっかりと濃く引かれ、その中を薄く色づけされ丁寧です。
上面には稜花形の窓の中に楼閣山水を上手に省略し描き、祥瑞として手を抜かないこだわりを感じます。
蓋の合わせ部分は凹凸形であり、寸分違わずきっちりとはまる精巧な作りです。

Shozui is a type of dyed porcelain made in a private kiln in Jingdezhen around the end of the Ming Dynasty in China upon order from Japan.
It is called Shozui because of the kanji written on the inside.
Using the best quality Gosu, rich patterns are painted on every inch of the small vessel.
Kumiko, tortoiseshell, swirl, and net patterns are drawn on each of the four sides.
The lines of the pattern are drawn firmly and darkly, and the inside is lightly colored for a careful look.
On the top, a landscape of towers and buildings is skillfully drawn in a flower-shaped frame, giving a sense of the uncompromising commitment of Shozui.
The fitting part of the lid has a concave and convex shape, and is exquisitely crafted to fit perfectly.
