萩焼刷毛目象嵌茶碗 – Hagi Tea Bowl

茶色い陶土を用い外面は焼締められ、胴には細い繊細な線にて太陽と雲と思われる意匠が象嵌されます。
腰の辺りには小さな花文が12点施されます。
内面には灰色がかった透明釉が刷毛によりざっくりとかけられ、土の色と相まって紫色に見えます。
やや末広がりのしっかりと削られた輪高台から、丸みを帯び大きく口が広がります。
口は真円ではなくあえて歪められて作られたもの考えらえます。

Made from brown clay, the outside is unglazed and the body is inlaid with a design of what appears to be the sun and clouds made with thin, delicate lines.
Twelve small floral designs are applied around the waist.
The inside is roughly brushed with a greyish transparent glaze, which combines with the color of the clay to give it the appearance of purple.
The teabowl has a carefully carved ring-shaped bottom that widens slightly at the end, leading to a large, rounded mouth.
The mouth is not a perfect circle, but is thought to have been deliberately distorted.
