大きく末広がりの足、胴は球体のように丸く、首は竹節をつけて細くなり、頂部の注入口はがっしりとした筒状で蓋がつきます。
水の抽出口は龍頭を模し、目や毛並みや鱗を細かく作り、胴から口にかけて付けられた取手は蔦と蕾のような意匠です。
胴には躍動感のある獅子が毛並みまで細かに、首には笹の葉のような装飾が施されます。
龍は皇帝の意匠、獅子は魔除けや権力の象徴とされ、当品は宮廷で使われていたものと考えられます。
越州窯の青磁はオリーブ色がかかり「秘色」といわれ、時代が経ちカセてもその上品で優雅さが伝わります。

It has large, wide legs, a round, sphere-like body, a tapered neck with bamboo nodes and a sturdy, tubular inlet at the top with a lid.
The water outlet is modeled after a dragon’s head, with the eyes, fur and scales detailed. The handle attached from the body to the mouth is designed to resemble ivy and buds.
A dynamic lion is painted on the body in great detail, even down to its fur. The neck is decorated with a bamboo leaf-like ornament.
Dragons are the design of the emperor, and lions are considered to be symbols of power and ward off evil, and this item is thought to have been used at court.
Etsusho kiln celadon is olive-colored, known as a “Hisoku” and its refined elegance remains even as time has passed and it has faded.
