中国宋時代の五大名窯のうちの一つである鈞窯（きんよう）で製作されたものです。
鈞窯では澱青釉と呼ばれる青い釉薬の陶磁器が有名です。
澱青釉とは日本での呼び方で、中国では天青釉と呼ばれています。
澱青釉は珪酸とリンを多く含み、乳白している青色の釉薬が特徴です。
この品は銅釉を混合させ、酸化銅の発色による紅紫色の斑紋が出ております。
斑紋はくっきり見えますが、拡大してみると青に馴染んでおりとても美しいです。
形状は大きく口が開いた壺で横に龍を模した耳がついています。
龍のモチーフがついた陶磁器は位が高い人に使われていたと考えられています。
