磁州窯特有の乾いた灰色の土を用い、緩やかに膨らんだ胴、少し高さのある広がった口に形成しております。
胴のカーブから滑らかに繋がるように肩から口にかけて耳が２つ備えられます。
腰を少し露胎し鉄釉を掛け、とても艶やかな黒色の発色です。
黒色の輝きで腰の轆轤目を立体的に現し、胴に流れた褐色の筋がよいアクセントです。
底はきっちりと掘り込まれ、露胎部からは轆轤目の様子が伺えます。
香辛料を運ぶための道具として日本に伝わり、日本の茶の湯では擂り潰して抹茶にする前の「碾茶（葉茶）」を保管するために使われます。

Using the dry grey clay characteristic of Cizhou ware, it has been formed into a gently bulging body and a slightly tall, wide mouth.
Two ears are added from the shoulder to the mouth, smoothly connecting with the curve of the body.
The iron glaze gives it a very lustrous black colour.
The shine of the black makes the wheel marks on the waist look three-dimensional, and the brown streaks running down the body are a nice accent.
The bottom is neatly carved, and the wheel marks can be seen from the exposed part.
