織部水注 – Oribe Water Pitcher

大ぶりな水注で、胴は上下に２段に分けられ、上部にはぐるりと溝がつけられます。
下部は少しカーブを帯びた平面となっており、それぞれの角に縦筋が入ります。
円形の底につながり、露胎し土の様子が伺えます。
口には鋲と筋のついた平たい形状の持ち手がアーチ状に渡り、胴との接合面は荒く残されます。
裾のあたりから口縁部あたりの高さまで曲線を描いた注ぎ口が備えられます。
取っ手から口の先端にかけては鮮やかで濃い緑釉を大胆に掛け、ムラによる濃淡が織部の魅力です。
ツマミのついた薄い蓋が備えられ、帯状に緑釉とその周りを鉄釉の点文が描かれます。
胴に描かれた鉄釉の絵は二面それぞれ違い、一面は力強い筆致で上下から花と唐草文を描いています。
もう一面は橋と鳥が織部らしい愛らしい画風で描かれます。
全体には黄色みがかった透明釉を掛け仕上げます。

This is a large Water Pitcher with a body divided into two sections, top and bottom, and a groove running all around the top.
The bottom half is a slightly curved flat surface with vertical lines at each corner.
It connects to a circular base, allowing the appearance of exposed clay to be seen.
A flat handle with studs and lines arches over the mouth, and the joint with the body is left rough.
It has a spout that curves from the bottom to the height of the rim.
A vivid, dark green glaze is boldly applied from the handle to the tip of the mouth, and the uneven shading is the charm of Oribe ware.
It has a thin lid with a knob, and is painted with a band of green glaze around it with iron glaze dots.
The iron glaze painting on each of the two sides of the body is different, and on one side flowers and arabesque patterns are painted from above and below with strong brushstrokes.
The other side features a bridge and birds painted in a lovely style typical of Oribe. The whole piece is finished with a yellowish transparent glaze.
