白磁獅子手水注 – White Porcelain Water Pitcher

邢州窯は中国を代表する白磁の産地で、唐代に最も隆盛いたしました。
乳白色の白く柔らかい釉薬が特徴です。
この品は内側や底まで白く、白土で化粧を施したのちに透明釉を施したものと考えられます。
釉薬の施されていない内側や底は触るとざらざらとしております。
底が小さく、胴から肩にかけて丸く膨らみます。
口は窄んでから外反して膨らみ、肩には小さな注ぎ口が備えらます。
口から肩にかけてつけられた持ち手は獅子の形を模したものであり、手と足を長く伸ばししがみついている様子がとても愛らしいです。
小さいながらも目はくっきりと、尾や爪も細かく造形されています。

It features a milky white soft glaze.
This item is white from the inside to the bottom, and is thought to have been made by covering the clay with white clay and applying a transparent glaze on top.
The unglazed inside and bottom are rough to the touch.
The bottom is small, and it swells round from the body to the shoulder.
The mouth is constricted and then bulges outward, with a small spout on the shoulder.
The handle that extends from the mouth to the shoulder is in the shape of a lion, and the way it clings to it with its long arms and legs is very charming.
Despite its small size, the eyes are clearly defined, and the tail and claws are finely sculpted.
